Giles County Court Docket Searches
No single public index searches every Giles County trial docket at once. So begin with the paper in hand. A citation, summons, or court notice will name the court. That name decides where the case lives. The Giles County Circuit Court Clerk holds the records. That covers Circuit, General Sessions, Juvenile, and Traffic Court. Chancery work, including probate and many family matters, sits with the Giles County Clerk & Master. A city ordinance or municipal traffic ticket stays with the city court unless the case is appealed into a county court.
Bring the case number if you have it. Also bring the names on the caption and a rough filing year. The type of filing matters too. A name alone rarely separates two people who share one. Court and year do that work. Ask for the docket first when you want the full sequence of a case, then request the specific complaint, judgment, decree, or sentencing order the entry points to.
- Read the notice and identify Circuit, General Sessions, Chancery, Juvenile, Traffic, or a city court.
- Contact the clerk that keeps that court's file and give the case number or caption.
- Ask for the docket, current setting, status, and the date of the last entry.
- Request inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy of the exact document.
- Search Tennessee Public Case History only when the case reached an appellate court.
Giles County Has No Trial Portal
Giles County publishes contacts, standing schedules, and a payment link. But it offers no searchable online trial docket. That gap shapes the whole plan. An appellate search box cannot substitute for the Circuit Clerk or the Clerk & Master. CourtFeePay does not fill the gap either. It handles payments and is not a Giles County case-search or e-filing system.
Call the office before concluding a case does not exist. A fresh filing may sit in the clerk's local system with no web result at all. A city citation may still belong to the city court. Older files sometimes move to Archives. Restricted cases show the public only limited details. Each situation is different. The clerk who holds the record can tell you which one you are facing.
Portal check: Tennessee Public Case History covers the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Court of Criminal Appeals. It is not a statewide trial-court docket search.
Court Dockets: What They Show
A docket is a timeline of everything filed or scheduled in one case. Use it to confirm a filing arrived. Check which hearing was set. Trace continuances, or find the order that closed a matter. It is not the whole file. A brief entry may reference a motion or judgment you must request on its own. Giles County publishes no field guide or abbreviation key, so read labels in context. When a code is unclear, the clerk can decode it.
| Case number | The clerk's identifier. AOC reporting uses 28A1 for Giles Circuit and 28A2 for Giles Chancery, but those are location codes, not a promised public case-number pattern. |
|---|---|
| Caption or parties | The names used to style the court matter, subject to redaction and access limits. |
| Entries and filings | Dated references to pleadings, notices, motions, orders, judgments, and other events. |
| Settings | Scheduled arraignments, hearings, trials, reviews, or other court appearances. |
| Disposition | The recorded resolution, which should be confirmed in the signed judgment or order. |
A charge or a claim on a docket is never a final result by itself. "Bound over" means a case moved up from a preliminary stage. "Dismissed" ends the claim or charge, and the order itself may explain why. A reset only moves a date. For any formal use, get the signed record. Ask the clerk whether certification is required.
Giles County Docket Clerk Map
The historic courthouse at 1 Public Square holds two separate record routes. Natalie Bass Oakley serves as the Circuit Court Clerk. That office handles Circuit, General Sessions, Juvenile, and Traffic Court records. Crystal Gibson Greene, the Clerk & Master, serves Chancery. The elected County Clerk is a different office entirely. It handles licensing and county government work, not the trial docket.

The county's official homepage gives a look at the government and courthouse setting. View the Giles County government source for that page.

That page shows why the clerk route stays local. The county site sends residents to separate court offices rather than to one combined trial search.
Giles County Courts and Their Dockets
Circuit Court is the general-jurisdiction trial court for Giles County. It handles criminal trials, civil suits, and appeals from the lower courts. General Sessions takes limited civil and criminal matters. That includes first appearances, preliminary hearings, misdemeanors, and traffic. It also handles juvenile work and child support. Chancery covers the case types assigned to the Clerk & Master. City ordinance and municipal traffic matters belong to the municipal courts.
| Court | Common docket work | First search route |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit Court | Felony trials, general civil suits, lower-court appeals | Circuit Court Clerk |
| General Sessions | First appearances, misdemeanors, traffic, limited civil, juvenile | Circuit Court Clerk |
| Chancery Court | Probate, divorce, guardianship, real estate, tax and equity matters | Clerk & Master |
| Municipal courts | City ordinances and municipal traffic | The named city clerk |
| Tennessee appellate courts | Appeals after a trial-court action | Public Case History |
The Tennessee court hierarchy source illustrates how trial and appellate levels relate.

This structure is why one name search can come up empty. A single dispute may leave records in a lower court, Circuit Court, and an appellate court at different stages of its life.
PCH and Giles County Appeals
Tennessee Public Case History takes a case number, case style, or party name. Business and organization names work too. It returns appellate records. These come from the Tennessee Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and Court of Criminal Appeals. Coverage starts with appellate filings made after September 1, 2006. Many filings after August 26, 2013 include document links. The data runs through the prior business day.
Try PCH once a notice of appeal is filed. An appellate case number in hand works too. Work through the Case Overview and its milestones. Then set the appellate history beside the local trial file. The record on appeal can hold clerk-certified papers, exhibits, and a transcript or approved statement. Even so, PCH never replaces the originating Giles County docket.
The county office directory is the official source for clerk contact details.

The listed offices help route a trial record before an appellate search begins.
Court Dates and Settings in Giles County
Published schedules are a starting point, not a promise about your case. General Sessions criminal arraignments and first appearances are listed for Tuesday. Trials sit on Thursday. Traffic first appearances fall on the third Friday, and traffic trials on the first Thursday. Circuit civil is listed each Wednesday. Circuit criminal appears on the fourth Monday and Tuesday. Its trial dates depend on the judges' schedules. Chancery runs its own Wednesday pattern tied to the first through fourth Mondays of the month. Juvenile criminal sessions sit on the second and fourth Wednesdays. What controls is the notice, the signed order, or a direct answer from the clerk. A recurring web listing never controls. For the full court-by-court confirmation path, use the Giles County Court Schedule.
Giles County Court Date Conflicts
Court dates in Giles County shift more often than people expect. A judge's schedule, weather, a closure, or a new order can move a setting. So can a continuance. No live reset log exists at the county level. So call the clerk handling the case. Give the case number. Confirm the date, time, location, judge or division, and setting type, plus whether you must appear. Check again just before the hearing whenever a mailed notice and the web schedule disagree. City dockets need extra caution. Ardmore posts different court times on its calendar page and its records page. Elkton lists two different traffic-court schedules and locations on one services page. Guesswork cannot settle those conflicts. The citation itself and word from the clerk outrank any general calendar entry.
If a setting was missed: contact the clerk at once. Ask whether an order, capias, failure-to-appear report, reset, or payment consequence was entered. Do not assume a new date was assigned.
Docket Access Under Tennessee Law
Public access to court records in Tennessee runs through Supreme Court Rule 34. The rule defines case records broadly. The rule still sets limits. Sealed material, protected personal data, juvenile information, adoption records, and similar confidential content may be withheld or redacted. Even a public docket entry does not guarantee access to every exhibit or filing behind it.
Key access rules:
Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 sets the court-record access framework and recognizes protected categories.
Giles County Public Records Request Policy states the county request, citizenship, response, delivery, and charge process for county-held records.
Tennessee Rule of Appellate Procedure 24 describes the record assembled for an appeal.
Start any case-record request with the court clerk. If the direct route stalls, use the county public-records process. That route covers county-held material. A denial or redaction should cite its legal basis where required. And an online docket search that returns nothing does not mean the record is sealed.
Giles County Archives Docket Route
Older research can leave the active courthouse file system entirely. The Giles County Archives holds Circuit and County Court records. Wills run from 1810 to 1940. Chancery material runs from 1810 to 1900. Deeds, marriages, newspapers, and other paper and microfilm collections round out the holdings. Visit at 211 South Cedar Lane in Pulaski. Or call 931-363-8434. Ask before you go. A specific older file may sit with the active clerk, at Archives, on microfilm, or no longer held at all. Name the court, the case type, the parties, and a narrow date range. The AOC courthouse directory lists every courthouse location and route.

Use that AOC directory to confirm the current Giles County courthouse route, while Archives remains the source for older holdings.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
A docket entry and the document behind it are two different products. Inspection answers a quick chronology question. A plain copy just reproduces the record. A certified copy adds clerk authentication for formal use, so ask for the exact item and say whether certification is needed. No Giles court publishes a certified-copy fee or turnaround. The county's April 2026 policy allows inspection and describes delivery by pickup, mail, or electronic means when available. Mail for the Circuit Court Clerk goes to P.O. Box 678, Pulaski, TN 38478, with email at noakley@gilescountytn.gov. The Clerk & Master shares that post office box and uses Crystal.Greene@tncourts.gov. Call 931-363-5311 or 931-363-2620 before sending a broad request. The county answers requests within a framework of seven business days. Its reproduced OORC guideline lists up to $0.15 per standard black-and-white page and $0.50 per color page, with the first hour of labor free and hourly labor charged beyond that. Court-specific charges may differ, so request an estimate first.
| Product | Likely custodian | Published cost status |
|---|---|---|
| Trial docket or order | Circuit Clerk or Clerk & Master | Court fee not located |
| County standard copy | County records custodian | Policy guideline up to $0.15 B/W or $0.50 color |
| Historical file | Giles County Archives | Ask for retrieval and copy estimate |
| Appellate PDF | Public Case History | Many newer filings link online |
Giles County Docket Codes Explained
AOC location codes help sort record streams in reports. Code 28A1 points to Giles Circuit, while 28A2 points to Giles Chancery. Neither proves the format of a local public case number. The county has published no shorthand key. It has no wildcard rules, and no date-range syntax of its own.
- Setting
- A scheduled court event, not a final result.
- Continuance
- An order moving a hearing or trial to another date.
- Disposition
- The way a claim, charge, or case was resolved.
- Certified copy
- A reproduction authenticated by the clerk.
- Case history
- The appellate portal's ordered list of events and filings.
Read any short code next to the full event, date, and signed order. Still unclear? Quote the entry to the clerk rather than borrowing a meaning from another county's system.
Federal Dockets for Giles County
Federal cases sit outside Tennessee's state system and outside Giles County court dockets. Giles County falls under the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. The district lists a Columbia courthouse at 815 South Garden Street. Columbia mail routes through Nashville, though. Confirm venue with the federal clerk. PACER is the federal public-access service. CM/ECF is the filing and case-management system behind it. PACER generally charges $0.10 per page, with a $3 cap on many case-specific documents. Quarterly charges of $30 or less are waived. Courthouse terminal access and opinions cost nothing. None of these federal prices are Giles clerk fees. CourtListener's RECAP archive offers a free secondary option, but its coverage is incomplete.
City-by-City Court Dockets in Giles County
Giles County contains five incorporated communities. Each municipal court route can differ from the county docket. City dockets usually cover local ordinances and municipal traffic. County General Sessions, meanwhile, handles state traffic and limited matters on its own calendar. Start with the court printed on the citation. Treat the 2020 Census counts as local context only, not caseload estimates.
Pulaski Court Records
Population 8,397. City Court contacts are at City Hall, apart from the county courthouse.
Ardmore Court Records
Population 1,217. A public event calendar lists City Court, but published times conflict.
Elkton Court Records
Population 545. Two official traffic-court schedule references conflict.
Minor Hill Court Records
Population 504. No public case portal was located; use the city clerk.
Lynnville Court Records
Population 292. The state directory provides a clerk contact but no calendar.
A municipal appeal adds a new county-level layer to the case. Ask both clerks for their case identifiers, and keep the originating city record with the county appeal record.
